KUMITE FOOTWORK
Shito-ryu's basic fighting style utilizes four (4) fundamental footwork patterns, among others:
Students must successfully blend as well as combine the footwork concepts with offensive and defensive techniques to become better skilled fighters.
The intention of these examples is to provide the Shito-ryu student with a simple reference/guideline method of remembering the previously learned footwork.
Students are encouraged to develop their own series of combinations using different footwork patterns.
Yori-Ashi Exercise
In right or left kumite-kamae (sparring posture), step with the front foot ahead while sliding the rear foot forward to maintain the correct kumite-kamae distance.
Upon completion, repeat using opposite (right/left) kumite-kamae.
KATA
Following are the karate-do kata taught at various belt levels in the Karate-do Shito Ryu dojos. The kata are listed in alphabetical order under each lineage.
